Description
Over View Having purchased the Lynn Brooks Indian Relic collection, we are offering the first portion at auction, April 18, 2015. Lynn is well known for collecting exceptional quality birdstones, slate and flint – especially Ohio Flint Ridge. There will also be carefully selected additions to round out the sale providing something of interest for everyone. Many of the artifacts offered here have not been available to the public previously, but rather have been exchanged privately. This auction presents an excellent opportunity to acquire genuine, documented, quality pieces for your collections. With over 100 years of combined collecting experience, we are confident items offered here are as represented and that our fellow collectors will approve. Some pieces have been illustrated in publications dating back to the early 20th Century and have passed through some of the most important collections ever assembled including those of Dr. R. Bunch, D. Boudeman, F. Burdett, C. Caldwell, Dr. S. Copeland, G. Dilley, L. Hills, G. Hirzel, B. Knoblock, Dr. G. Meuser, W. Nelson, E. Payne, B.W. Stephens, Judge C. Stone, E. Townsend, Jr., R. Vietzen, A. Wehrle, Dr. T.H. Young and others. Photo copies of documentation noted in this catalog will be provided with the corresponding lots. Items in the auction include the famous “Parks Porphyry” birdstone, 6 additional birdstones featured in Townsend’s BIRDSTONES OF THE NORTH AMERICAN INDIAN, an extremely fine, red slate butterfly from the Payne collection, a beautiful porphyry gorget, a complete double crescent bannerstone, a wide variety of banded slate pendants, gorgets and bannerstones, a quartz crystal gorget, a quartzite tube pipe plus a fine selection of Ohio flint, just to name a few. Every effort has been made to accurately describe any serious condition issues, i.e., breakage or restoration. Normal and expected wear and tear usually associated with genuine relics, such as minor nicks, scratches and scuffs have not been noted. More than ample opportunity is made available to examine all lots either on-line or in person prior to the auction. We will be happy to assist you in any way possible. Regarding “C.O.A.’s” it has been our observation that many are only costly, unwarranted opinions provided by and for inexperienced, novice collectors. We do not accept or recognize “C.O.A.’s” and you will find noneaccompanying any of these lots. The artifacts herein stand on their own merit. Ultimately it is up to the buyer to be the final judge regarding authenticity. A thoughtful, knowledgeable collector is our best customer. All sales will be final. We would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your past patronage. We appreciate your business and look forward to seeing you in April. If we may help you, please call (937)492-2923.
